Promoting a (stylish) bicycling culture in Bloomington, Indiana.

The Bike Box

What a great idea! This would solve the problem of the disappearing bike lane.

Bloomington, Indiana, United States
Bicycling is my transportation and avocation. After years of training and racing, I re-discovered my love of riding. . . to work, to the park, to the movies, anywhere that I can go in regular clothes. And, here, I write about it. Sometimes with sarcasm, but always with enthusiasm.

Bicycles and Bloomington

Bloomington, Indiana is a town of about 70,000 residents, with a mid-size university attended by more than 30,000 students. It is the quintessential college town. But more than that, Bloomington is the home of the Little 500, made famous by the movie Breaking Away.

Bloomington has a long tradition of cycling, but aside from college students and competitive racers, bicycling has not been a part of every day life. Because of Bloomington's small size, decent year-round weather, and progressive social atmosphere, Bloomington is the perfect place to start a midwestern bicycling revolution.
